Summary
The Management Company Assistant Controller reports directly to the Management Company Controller and will play an integral part in the smooth functioning of the accounting, tax and budgeting functions for the firm’s management companies. The Assistant Controller will be accountable for the accounting operations of the firm, to include production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the firm’s reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles and reporting standards.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the day-to-day accounting operations for multiple entities, including managing the close process, reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations for seven entities
Develop and improve processes and timing around monthly, quarterly, and yearly accounting functions
Lead analytical reviews of information and resolution of issues identified
Work closely with the Management Company Controller to establish, and standardize accounting policies and procedures
Maintain and enhance internal controls/processes alongside process improvement initiatives
Assist with treasury functions, including cash management and reconciliations for over 150 accounts
Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
Work closely with the firm’s tax team to assist managing the firm’s international, federal, state and local tax compliance
Prepare various analyses and reporting to support a variety of internal and external stakeholders
Qualifications
Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience, including at least two years public accounting experience with a Big 4 accounting firm is required
CPA designation required
Demonstrated experience working with partnership agreements, corporate consolidations and account reconciliation processes for multiple reporting entities
Proven ability to analyze, interpret and present operating results and complicated financial data to senior level executives
Tech savvy and able to enhance use of systems
Strong Excel skills (e.g., PivotTables, VLookup, etc.)
Must be efficient and confident working within multiple accounting applications, general ledgers and financial operations / reporting systems
