Specified Air designs and manufactures specialty commercial and industrial heating, ventilation and air conditioning (“HVAC”) equipment, including pool dehumidification systems, commercial cooling units, low intensity radiant heaters, make-up air equipment, and hygienic air handlers, among other product lines.
The business was owned by a private equity firm for over ten years, but was still very much a family-run enterprise. The company had grown through a number of prior acquisitions which had not been integrated into the overall company. Sterling worked closely with management to add key team members to integrate these businesses and take advantage of the scale of the combination. The streamlining of the organizational structure and addition of key talent has resulted in a platform for further acquisitions. Specified Air acquired three leading pool dehumidification businesses to add to its niche end market offering.
